2008 Musings

2007 went out like a lion here in Lexington; the airport was reporting 55MPH gusts last night at 11PM. The wind was noisier than the fireworks that some crazed fools were letting off in the freezing cold.

It's still cold by Lexington standards, although the high-20s afternoon temperatures were about normal for Michigan this time of year. We treated our next door neighbor to pizza this afternoon, keeping tabs on the Michigan-Florida game while talking at home and at the restaurant. Michigan came out on top, 41-35, letting Lloyd Carr go out with a win.

Will we see a more Floridaesque offense next year in Ann Arbor with spread guru Rich Rodriguez taking over?
_________

We can now talk about hours rather than days to Iowa; about 50 or so. Fox had a Claudometer-pinning link-headline "Romney Expects Gold or Silver in Iowa Race." That's about as daring as guaranteeing that the Tigers will win the Auburn-Clemson game.

____________

They're finally pruning candidates for the debates and are screening out Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter. However, Paul seems to be getting the 5% nationally and in NH that are the cited benchmarks. A debate without him would be more civil and less of a circus, but he's doing well enough to be included.
