Here's a good Christmas story out of my trucking beat. Arrow Trucking closed its doors yesterday very abruptly yesterday, even closing their fleet fuel cards, leaving its truckers to take their trucks to the nearest truck dealer for their brand; in some cases, the truck manufacturer was springing for a bus ride home, but others had the truckers stranded away from home, without a job, two days before Christmas. As ET would say, "owwwwch"
The heart-tugger came today from Schneider trucking, one of the bigger firms of the industry, who is offering to freely let stranded Arrow truckers hitch a ride towards home with Schneider trucks- “If anyone knows how important it is for a truck driver to be home for the holidays, Schneider does.”
The good PR outweights the costs to Schneider, but it's still a nice move.
