Interesting story out of Slovakia, where a Greek bailout brought down the government. A libertarian party in the ruling right-of-center coalition balked, but the Social Democrat opposition agreed to pass the bill and approve new elections for March.
My question to the Peanut Gallery- how much do people in the EU feel European as opposed to their regular nationality? If there isn't a whole lot of common bond there, asking people to sacrifice for someone in the southeast corner of the continent might not go over well. In a post-Christian Europe, the Christian solidarity that might have been there in the past will be hard to call upon, so more secular ties, if any, would provide whatever cohesion there might be.
I know we have some EU denizens in the Peanut Gallery; it would be interesting to hear how European y'all feel, especially given the current fiscal mess.
