They're counting the votes in Ontario's provincial election, and it's a squeaker. The Globe and Mail count page has the ruling Liberals at 53 seats, the Conservatives at 37 and the NDP at 17. That leaves the Liberals just short of a majority.
It will be interesting to see the horse-trading that would go down if that result holds up. I remember 2005, when the national Liberals had to scratch together a majority and lured a RINOey Tory, Belinda Stronach, over to the Liberal side to fight off a no-confidence vote.
Who, if anyone, will be the Stronach of 2011? Wooing one person to cross the aisle would be easier than working out either a vote-by-vote deal like the Conservatives had to do on the national level or a full-blown coalition.
