Here's some good news for Herman Cain; we're getting one more media body in the Perry pile-on. Last weekend it was the N-head hunting camp, and this one is a Perry-backing pastor going after Mormonism as a "cult."
That was bound to happen, given the disdain that folks in the deeper reaches of the Bible Belt think about ... er ... heterodox offshoots of Christianity like the Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses ("Sorry, I can't be a Witness; I didn't see the accident"). In areas where the fundamentalism is particularly thick, even Catholics will get the cult label.
Such a news item is supposed to help Romney among more cosmopolitan folks, making Perry and his backers look like hicks not ready for the White House. However, I think that card has already been fairly well played, and this might just help push Perry out of the lead back, since the media is seemingly got into bashing Perry with Palin not in the race.
