I'm not quite sure what to make of the latest news from the Cain campaign's "reassessing" things.
Either the allegations are false, in which case Cain needs to get out a polygraph and show he's being straight with folks, or they are true.
If they are true, then we've been sold a bill of goods by Cain; people gave good money to that campaign under false pretenses if the stories are largely true.
If they're not true, then we have some sort of concentrated effort to get him out of the race; a Vast anti-Cain Conspiracy, to borrow from the boss-lady of Foggy Bottom.
Somebody is getting a major diet of crow in short order and some 'splaining to do.
The usual script is a withdrawal speech, but occasionally there is truly nothing there; Nikki Haley faced adultery charges going into her primary in 2010 and faced them down.
I'd like to see Cain pull that off, but I've seen enough politicians with a wayward eye to not be too positive about that.
