It's sleety outside, I'm fighting off another bout of bronchitis and the Pistons are 2-8. However, the weather will improve, my health will improve and.... if the Clippers and T-Wolves can get better, there is hope for the Pistons.

Interesting piece from Ken Dryden on the decline in brawls in the NHL. He may have lousy taste in political parties but he has always been a thoughtful guy about hockey. Fighting is down 25%, some enforcers are out of a job and some good-ol'-boys don't like it.
The interesting thing is that this drop came with former Red Wing great Brendan Shanahan in charge of league discipline. He was no softy in his day; he's getting a message across that real men can get things done without starting fights.

WHen I'm feeling a bit better, I'll get to Romney's faux pas from earlier in the week. For now, his "I like being able to fire people" line comes in the context of changing insurance providers, but it's too good of a line for his foes to leave alone.
I'm enough of a free-marketeer to have quoted "creative destruction" more than once here, but Romney's work had him being that economic Vishnu, the destroyer of worlds underperforming divisions, on a regular basis. It works well in theory, but that is going to be the line that will be fed back via a thousand 527 ads this fall.
