I take what Lovelock says seriously, but his is not a voice I would accept unquestioningly. (His Gaia hypothesis for one thing, his view of nuclear waste for another). I think he is wrong that "Twelve years is a reasonable time". Thirty years would be a reasonable time. As things are, statistically, the trend of global temperatures is still upward.
I put that question in the way I did because, as you know, "puny humans can't change the atmosphere significantly" has been a constant refrain from Christian climate change 'skeptics'. Unfortunately, the evidence is against them.
