I'm actually somewhat pleased with the Obama administration's new rules letting young illegals normalize themselves. It's going to make immigration hawks hot and bothered, but I'm more concerned with getting rid of the outlaw status either by normalization or deportation. When you can here as a kid (<16) have kept your nose clean and have been here five years, they would seem to be more valuable to keep rather than frog-marching them over the border.
Yes, they broke the law, I hear you in the back right. So probably did you the last time you were on the expressway and fudged a 65 speed limit into 70 to keep up with traffic. You weren't even dragged into that fudge by your parents.
Politically, it would have made more sense to to this via passing a new law rather than via a administrative decree. Not only will it make the right mad on content but on style as well; the trap being set is to make Republicans look like ogres for wanting to send back winsome college kids who did nothing wrong other than being dragged stateside by their parents. Hopefully, they'll not take that bait.
