Interesting story on Kobe Bryant closing in on 30K points; he'd be the youngest to get there, partly due to his starting straight out of high school.
One of the guys on the list of quick to 30K was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; he was back in an era where college freshmen couldn't play varsity let alone in the NBA. UCLA's JV was able to beat the national-champ varsity team in Kareem's freshman year. Today, you'd pronounce UCLA's JV "Ken-tuck-ee."
Another guy on the list was Wilt Chamberlain; he spend what would have been his senior year of college with the Globetrotters back when you couldn't declare early. He'd have started a lot sooner had modern rules been in place.
