You don't hear much about Corsica other than it's most famous strong-man/general, but this news story points out that frictions between natives and vacation home-owners from mainland France have boiled over into a string of bombings of vacation villas. France isn't immune to having some of its more remote departments look for autonomy; we're used to seeing it in Spain, where the Basques and now the Catalans are looking for distance from Madrid, but we're seeing some of that here.
The headline-grabber complains about racism, but I'm not sure if that is the right word, as I'm not sure we have people taking about a Corsican race. They might, but I'm not used to seeing it in that context; if the turistas were of African or Arab descent, that might come into play, but I don't recall a huge difference with Corsica, other than it was not always part of France.
