Here's some good news for Ted Cruz; Rand Paul is packing it in. Cruz should benefit since he's the most libertarian of the remaining field. Cruz is not a cultural libertarian, but he is the biggest free-marketer in the field, has foreign-policy thoughts that triangulate between neocon and isolationist takes, and has been loosely allied with Paul on privacy issues.
Paul got "less than one quarter of the support his father had drawn four years earlier." Part of that was Tea Party folks supporting Cruz, some might have given foreign policy a second look in an ISIS War era, and some of the wilder-eyed ones just stayed home, seeing Rand as a bit too much of a conventional politician.
Paul does have a niche in the Senate, just not enough of a one to be a viable presidential candidate for now.
The Kid's Table is shrinking very rapidly.
