The Iraqi al Qaeda folks are talking smack post-Zarqawi. They have to talk tough, but we'll see if they can back it up. Unfortunately, I've got the feeling that they might just be able to.
Might there be a Zarqawi-peace dividend? One can only hope; it's nice to see Time doing something other than give a truckload of negative buts to his passing.

I was watching the Angola-Portugal World Cup match just now (surfing in from the Tigers game, just to keep you from thinking I've gone totally Europhile), and I was wondering whether there was any colony-colonial power dynamic going on; oh, yeah.
The last match between the two nations, in 2001, was abandoned with 20 minutes to play after four Angolans were sent off - at which point Portugal were winning 5-1.
The BBC piece has Angolans looking to get 500 years of colonial payback.

Alberto has been offically christened. It actually may be a blessing for Florida; the winds are expected to be minimal and good hunks of Florida have been in a drought, complete with brush fires. Alberto will likely bring a good soaking; the radar was showing the outer bands putting some thunderstorms into the Lakeland area.

Mexico-Iran. Even the biggest immigration hawk would have to root for the Mexicans; they won 3-1. The US opens up tomorrow against the Czechs.
