This sounds way too much like sci-fi; long range sensors have picked up a potentially habitable planet. It's a bit bigger than Earth, but has an average temperature of a bit over freezing, which would set up the potential of water if there's the fixings for it. The temperature ranges doesn't mean there's water and water doesn't mean there's life, but it's an interesting piece of information.

McCain's supposed to officially launch his presidential campaign tomorrow. However, I think Mr. Balz has conventional wisdom on the brain when he sees that "Iraq remains the overriding issue hanging over his candidacy." That could be true of most of the Democrats as well. If Iraq goes well the rest of the way, McCain will look good and Barack and Hillary will look bad.
It isn't a killer for McCain if Iraq does poorly, but it makes the take of Republican Iraq skeptics like Brownback much stronger. However, most of the rest of the field won't be making ground at McCain's expense if things go poorly.

Kids who go to church are better behaved than their unchurched peers; at least that's the general take of a recent study. That might not have been true of my Methodist classmates growing up, who seemed squirrlier than most kids, but they might of been the exception to the rule.
