I've been under the weather the past week and have yet to comment on the Leaders and Legends naming faux pas of the Big Ten. It may well wind up going the way of New Coke if commish Jim Delany's reaction is legit-
"I think we have enough experience with names, and expansion and development of divisions, to know that you never, rarely, get 90 percent approval rating," Delany said during the interview. "But to get a 90 percent non-approval rating was, you know, really surprising."
One of the problems with the balanced Big Ten split is that there isn't an easy geographic monicker to tag them. The ACC has a simular problem, where their divisions don't have geographic sense; they went with Atlantic and Coastal divisions via cannibalizing the conference name.
It's likely better to go with North for Legends and South for Leaders. It's hard to be a Leader when no one is following you.
