I was thumbing through some old Carman songs on You Tube today, with Lord of All getting into the mix. Carman does have a bit of cockiness to his act, but he's basically doing a cut and paste from Philippians 2-
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
The one thing to remember is that this will eventually happen, even if it's far from happening now. As the rhetoric gets hot and heavy over same-sex-marriage this week and folks with a traditional faith seem to be cast as backward losers, we need to remember that the good guys will win in the end.
Economic conservatives might fear sliding down along the road to serfdom, but the road to heaven can never be cut off even if things on this earth may go downhill from time to time. Carman's bravado might be a bit 180-proof, but it's a good remedy to a "Dr. Hayek, what milepost are we on?" mentality when things aren't going so well.
