We entered the DVR universe in our auxiliary living room downstairs about a month ago. One advantage of recording sports that way is that you can quickly record shows after the game proper just in case the game runs long.
Last night, the Tigers-Mariners game went 14 innings, blowing through the post-game show, a half-hour sports news show and into a replay of the Red Wings game from 2-4AM. Thankfully, the game only needed 4:27 to play, so my six-hour window was safe, since I had that much set up.
The 2-1 pitcher's duel, which had a near-record 40 strikeouts between the two rosters, brought some Ted Williams-esque numbers back down to earth. After flirting with (and sometimes getting a room with) .400, we have Austin Jackson down to .368 and Prince Fielder down to .340. Torii Hunter is having an extended session with that lesser-known Borg 4 of 10, as his 2/5 night moved his average down to .413.
All those folks that thought Hunter was more lucky than good last year due to his high percentage of hits-per-balls-in-play might need to find a good wine to go with that crow on their plate
